Tutor Safety Guidelines
Ms.Tutor Academy

Welcome

Ms.Tutor Academy is a women-led space for learning, and keeping it safe is a job we share. Please read this page once, carefully, before you start teaching.

Your safety and comfort come first. If anything on the platform feels wrong, you will always have a clear way to let us know, and we will act on it.

Who you teach

Your students are girls, women, and boys up to age 12. All Ms.Tutor tutors are women.

A learner who does not fit this description, for example an adult man, should not be on the platform. If you suspect this, follow the steps in "If something feels wrong” below. You never have to decide this alone, and you never have to confront anyone.

Messages and links

Only people with a Ms.Tutor account can message you on the platform, and you should treat every new message with care.

  • Do not click links that someone sends you, even if the message looks friendly or official.
  • Do not share your phone number, home address, personal email, social media accounts or banking details.
  • Keep conversations on the platform. Politely decline requests to move to WhatsApp, text, email or social media.
  • Do not open files or attachments from people you do not know.
  • Messages that claim to come from Ms.Tutor Academy, Meta, Google or a bank and ask you to act quickly are a warning sign. Do not reply. Send them to us.

If something feels wrong

If a message, a learner or a lesson makes you uncomfortable, stop replying and tell us. You do not need proof, and you will never be in trouble for reporting.

  1. Stop. Do not reply, argue or explain. You can leave a lesson at any time.
  2. Do not click any link in the message.
  3. Take a screenshot of the message, the learner's name and the date, if you can.
  4. Report it to us using the details in the next section.
  5. Wait for our answer. We will review the account and can deactivate it. We will tell you what we did.

In your lessons

Be warm, professional and clear in every lesson, because children and parents trust you to set the tone.

  • Keep lessons about learning. Stay on the subject you are teaching.
  • Dress and behave as you would in a classroom.
  • With young children, it is good practice for a parent or guardian to be nearby. Welcome it.
  • Do not ask a learner for personal details such as where they live, their school or their family.
  • Do not give out gifts, favours or private contact details, and do not accept them.
  • If a learner or parent behaves in a way that makes you uncomfortable, you may end the lesson politely and report it to us.

How to report a concern

Email safety@mstutor.academy at any time, or use the private Safety page linked in the footer of mstutor.academy. Reports are read by us and are kept private.

In your report, please include:

  • The learner's name, as shown on the platform
  • What happened, in your own words
  • A screenshot, if you have one
  • The date and time
